Angle connector without reinforcing ridge:
The scope is very extensive, wherever large forces are transmitted.
Example: warehouse securing of e.g. purlins, crosslinks wooden side rails on stems, furniture, carports, pergolas, etc.
The fastening is usually done with anchor nails or screws.

Angle connector with reinforcing ridge:
These angle connectors are suitable for connections that large forces have to transfer.
Example: purlins on laminated timber beams, glued beam with each other, side rails on the supports, stem connectors on thresholds etc. The woods are not weakened and can be statically fully utilized.
The fastening is usually done with anchor nails or screws.
